Singing at the switching on of the Petworth Christmas Lights has become a great tradition for The Leconfield Singers, and this year’s event will be better than ever as Petworth Town Council have joined forces with both St Mary’s Church, Petworth and the National Trust at Petworth House to present a spectacular Lantern Procession and Live Nativity to celebrate the occasion.
We will meet for a brief rehearsal at the Petworth Club which is at the bottom of Lombard Street, on the left, almost opposite ‘The Hungry Guest’ cafe/restaurant. It has a doorway on the street, with a light above on which is written (not surprisingly) ‘The Petworth Club’. The rehearsal will start at 4.20pm, ready for our slot at 5.15pm to 5.40pm.
Do remember that the town is likely to be very busy, with the square closed to traffic, so allow plenty of time for parking as it will be tricky.
Dress will be anything WARM! Please bring your music and your black Leconfield Singers Folders with you (Bridget will be selling them from this Wednesday 26th Nov onwards), and it would be helpful if you could bring the minimum of bags etc. as space in the Club will be limited.
Our conductor will be Richard Allum (he has accompanied us at previous rehearsals), and Jo will be our accompanist.
The programme will be as follows:-
Hark! the Herald
(Chris Williams – without brass interludes)
Three Kings came riding
Away in a manger
Ding! Dong! Merrily on high
O come all ye faithful (verses 1,2, 5 & 6)
The First Nowell (verses 1, 2, 4 & 6)
