In February 2012  a small group of neighbours and friends met in the Orangery at Hawkhurst House, Wisborough Green with the idea of forming a new non-audition choir.
Our aim was to find others who wanted to sing for fun and learn new music. However, we were not without ambition and hoped eventually to be able to share our efforts by performing for an audience, and raising money for local good causes.
By the end of June we had outgrown the Orangery and moved to the Leconfield Hall in Petworth for our weekly rehearsals. We re-named ourselves ‘The Leconfield Singers‘ (by kind permission of Lord Egremont) and were fortunate to be introduced to Graham Wili by one of our members. Graham is an experienced conductor, teacher and performer, and has taken choirs from humble beginnings to singing throughout Europe and performing on the London stage. He is passionate about making music accessible to everyone, and his energy and expertise ensure that singing together is both fun and educational, with members benefiting from his expert vocal tuition.
Joanna Kent is our accompanist.  Jo studied the piano with Patricia Carroll at the Royal College of Music in London and specialised in accompaniment with John Blakely. She has performed at the Wigmore Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields and St James Piccadilly, and also spent many hours tinkling the ivories at Harrods and various top London hotels. Jo is also a music and piano teacher.
The choir meets every Wednesday evening in the United Reformed Church, Golden Square, Petworth. Doors open at 7.30pm and we start singing at 8.00pm until 10.00pm.
The Leconfield Singers Ltd was incorporated on 09/08/2012 Company No: 8173769.  Charity No: 1152725 Registered office: 3 Clifford House, Lombard St, Petworth, West Sussex GU28 0AG

  1. Hello, My wife and I are founder members of the Leconfield Community Choir in East Yorkshire and are going to be in Petworth from the 12th – 15th October. We were wondering whether we could attend your practice on Wednesday 14th and introduce ourselves to you? LCC was founded in 2010 on a similar basis to yourselves (no auditions / charitable fund raising, having fun, etc) and we were wondering whether we could establish some form of link between the two choirs?
